Promoting Healthy Smiles at Every Stage of Life

Oral Health Program

Preventive dental services and education for children, families, and older adults.

Our Oral Health Program focuses on preventing dental issues before they start by offering education, screenings, and preventive services across our community. We provide in-clinic services as well as outreach through our LB Smiles program, which offers school-based screenings and fluoride applications to help children build strong, healthy habits early on. We also extend these services to long-term care facilities, supporting the oral health of older adults.

Good oral health is an important part of overall health, and small steps can make a big difference over time. Our team works to make services comfortable and approachable, helping reduce anxiety and create positive experiences around dental care. Whether at home, in school, or in a care facility, we’re here to support healthy smiles at every stage of life.

A dental screening is a quick check of your teeth, gums, and mouth to look for signs of cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, or other concerns. Screenings help identify problems early and determine if additional care is needed.

A prophylaxis, often called a routine dental cleaning, removes plaque, tartar, and surface stains from your teeth. Regular cleanings help prevent cavities and gum disease while keeping your mouth healthy. This service is recommended for patients with generally healthy gums.

A child prophylaxis is a routine dental cleaning designed for younger patients. It removes plaque and tartar, helps prevent cavities, and gives children the opportunity to learn healthy brushing and flossing habits.

This visit is designed for patients who wear full dentures. During the appointment, your dentures will be cleaned, and your dentist will examine your mouth, gums, and other oral tissues to check for sores, irritation, changes, or other concerns.

A full mouth debridement is a more thorough cleaning performed when there is a heavy buildup of plaque and tartar. Removing this buildup allows the dental team to better examine your teeth and gums and determine what treatment may be needed next.

Fluoride varnish is a protective coating painted onto the teeth to help strengthen enamel and reduce the risk of cavities. The application is quick, painless, and beneficial for both children and adults who are at higher risk for tooth decay.

A dental sealant is a thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth. Sealants help keep food and bacteria out of the deep grooves where cavities are most likely to develop and are commonly recommended for children and teens.

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a liquid treatment used to help stop cavities from getting worse. It can be a good option for young children, older adults, or patients who may not be ready for more extensive dental treatment. The treated area may turn dark, which is a normal part of how the treatment works.
