Healthy Families Loup Basin

Healthy Families is a voluntary home-based program providing support and resources to parents and growing families. Children don't come with a manual—join our Healthy Families program or learn more below.

Blue Dot Spot

Loup Basin is the only health department in Nebraska that is a Blue Dot Spot. Blue Dot Spot's are places where those pregnant, up until 1 year post birth are at risk for mental health struggles, such as anxiety, depression, postpartum rage, and more. Both parents are susceptible to these emotions as this period of life is filled with a lot of intense changes for the family.

Women, Infants and Children Program

Women, Infants and Children also known as WIC, offers nutrition education, healthy food vouchers, and support to pregnant women, feeding mothers, infants, and children up to age five.

LBPHD is transitioning this program at this time. For current enrollment please visit with the local WIC provider located in Loup City, NE.

Lactation & Feeding Support

Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) are trained clinical providers who promote, protect and support breast feeding and lactation. While CLCs specialize in breastfeeding, they also provide compassionate, evidence-based support for formula feeding, pumping, combination feeding and all infant feeding choices - because every family deserves informed care, no matter how they feed their baby.

We are continuously looking for ways to grow and better serve the families of our community.
